Location
This photo was taken in the guest bathroom of my home.Time
It was mid-day, bright sunlight outside.Lighting
This was all natural light diffused through the closed white mini blinds. Model faced the window for catch lights in her eyes.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 7D, with an 18-55mm f/3.5 lens, no other equipment was involved.Inspiration
This was a personal project I had been thinking about. It is a small series of a woman preparing for her day.Editing
This photo is virtually SOOC, outside of a basic WB correction and minor crop there was no other processing. In my camera bag
I have since upgraded my camera to full frame, I now use the Canon 6D. My favorite lenses, which seem to change with my mood, but I have 3 that I use most often right now: Canon 50mm 1.8, Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II and the LensBaby 35 Composer. I always carry at least one video light, a flash (although rarely use it), a diffuser for the flash, a wire trigger and a mini flash light, cleaning cloths, rain jacket for my camera, extra batteries and clothes pins.Feedback
Identify and set your focus on your focal point. It can be tricky when shooting reflections, because although in this shot the girl is the subject, it is her reflection that is the focal point. You might be tempted to focus on the side of her face, but that can make your whole image feel out of focus, because your viewer will look for her eyes in the reflection. So focus, in this case, on her eyes in the reflection! I love working with reflections when I have the opportunity.
