Nice capture! It is rare to find a relaxed squirrel.

Behind The Lens

Location

Taken in the backyard of my house in Pacific grove CA.

Time

Sometime in the middle of the day, probably late morning.

Lighting

Since this was summer (July) on the California Central Coast, it was overcast and cloudy so the shadows were not harsh and the light muted.

Equipment

Nikon D90. Shot at 200mm with an 18-200 zoom lens. f6.3. ISO200, 1/200 sec.

Inspiration

There were 4 or 5 squirrels chasing each other along the fence and up a phone pole. The dog was frantic as the squirrels tend to get her going on purpose. This one squirrel separated from the others and was resting on the top of the fence. It eyed me suspiciously as I tried to get as close as possible. Just a lucky shot.

Editing

Just cropped.

In my camera bag

I now have a new camera, a Nikon D7500. My walk around lens is a Tampon 18-400mm zoom lens. I also have a Sigme 150-500mm lens, a Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens and a Tampon 10-24mm wide angle lens.

Feedback

Serendipitous moment. Right place right time. Always keep your camera close by.
