So brilliant to decide to use the flowers in the foreground when most people would have zoomed in on the castle. Great thinking!

Location
This photo was taken on Holy Island or Lindisfarne in Northumberland, UK.Time
Due to the fact that Lindisfarne is an island and access is by a causeway, the time of day that I could take this picture was dictated by the tides. There are places to stay on the island should you want to stay the night and take any sunset or sunrise photos.Lighting
Due to the fact that I had to take this photo mid-afternoon, I didn't expect the lighting to be anything particularly special. It was only in post processing that the drama of the clouds was revealed much to my delight.Equipment
I used my Nikon D700 with a 35mm lens handheld.Inspiration
I've shot this castle a few times before from different angles but this time I wanted more colour which is where the garden in the foreground came in handy.Editing
Whilst it may look like the sky is false or extremely post-processed, the whole image only needed a few contrast and colour tweaks. Adding a bit of contrast to the sky brought out all the details of the clouds. In my camera bag
At the minute my camera bag has my Nikon D700, 35mm F2, 50mm F1.8, 105mm VR, 17-35mm, Nikon SB900, Nikon SB800, Ray Flash Ring and a few filters. Its pretty heavy to carry around when shooting landscapes so I usually take out at least one of the flash guns.Feedback
For shooting landscapes I usually try to plan what the shot will look like before I get there. Looking at other peoples work of the same or similar places can give you inspiration or ideas of what might look better or different. Sometimes though a good landscape shot will just appear when you're out and about.
