Location
We had 3 acres in the country, with lots of room for trees. We planted a Crepe Myrtle bush which grew tall and all the birds loved flocking in it. I bought Canon EOS Rebel 1, and I had an old Sony camera as well. I started taking photos of the birds. This is one of the photos I took one day, it was cold.Time
Inwas standing on my back porch about 3 in the afternoon. The sun shines brightest on my back porch this time of day. The blue jay seemed to be enjoying the warmth of the sun and light. He looked so relaxed, so I held my breath and snapped the photo. He did not seem to mind me because he was a regular at the Crepe Myrtle tree.Lighting
The light was in the afternoon bright sun on a cold day.Equipment
I just used my Canon EOS Rebel SL1 with my 75-300mm zoom lens which I use often.Inspiration
I love taking pictures of nature and anything that belongs to the outside on our beautiful planet earth!Editing
I downloaded the photo shot on my computer and was so surprised how it just needed to be a little cropped to center the Blue Jay.In my camera bag
I always keep my zoom lens 75-300mm on my camera when I am outdoors taking photos. This is so I can quickly dial a close up if I spot a bird or something. It allows me to stay far enough away so not to disturb the birds and what they are doing. I will sit quietly until they start flying to the tree in my back yard.Feedback
You have to be patient when taking any kind of nature subject like a bird. I always will return daily for a few days to watch their patterns and habits. I also like to watch the sun and the way it will shine in the area. Once I see when the best time is, I try to return and take photos. This is how I got this shot.
