Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken by a lake near my house, I live in texas and this part is/was in a drought. I am a self taught photographer. I would consider myself still "Green around the Gills"

Time

This shot was taken around late afternoon, I had my camera and the kids in the car and I said hey lets go see what we can see!!!. So we got out and I let the kids run around and I just started shooting. I only directed "My Lovely" a few times and took the shot.

Lighting

I try to use natural lighting and shoot outdoors as much as possible. I feel that Mother Nature and all of her glory is the best light. I just went in and tweeked it a bit, with cropping and adjusted the brightness and contrast. I did use ViewBug's photoediting program and I was able to focus on my daughter's face, and haze the background.

Equipment

I use a Nikon d3200, and I did not use a flash. I just went in and tweeked it a bit, with cropping and adjusted the brightness and contrast. I did use ViewBug's photoediting program and I was able to focus on my daughter's face, and haze the background. I use ViewBug's program often on my shots, It helps me to get my shots just right!:)

Inspiration

What inspired me at first was the drought that was/is going on here in Texas where I live I have watched my lake vanish and it saddened me and I wanted to capture that. So I had been taking pictures earlier during the day and still had the camera in the car,I Had to run an errand with the kids and just on a whim I said "Hey, Let's stop and see what we can see!" We all got out both kids ran off ahead and I start just snapping photos. I wanted to capture it all. I turn and see my girl and it was just the right moment right time. With a few directions a got my shot of her!

Editing

I use Viewbug's photo editing program and also my microsoft photo editing system that came on my computer.

In my camera bag

I have my Nikon d3200 and and long distance lens nikon lens. But I typically only use the lens that is already on the camera.

Feedback

One this shot of my girl I went into the "shoot" looking for something diffrent to capture. I was looking to capture the saddness of it all, Instead I captured beauty in spite of the harness of the background. I usually will see the image I want to create in my mind first and then I will go and try to capture that.Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but I learn from each picture and each edit I do. I guess my advice would be, Capture Images that strike a cord in your soul, And it will Ignite your passion for Photography.
