Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken along side Highway 45 in Eastview Tennessee.

Time

This was around 9:00pm during a thunderstorm.

Lighting

This exposure was made while I held the camera on top of my side mirror of my car.

Equipment

It was a 10 second exposure on a Nikon z30 using the 16-50mm lens that came with the camera. Editing was done in Lightroom.

Inspiration

I’ve always been fascinated with storms. Lightning photography has been a hobby for me for over 10 years.

Editing

The contrast and clarity were edited in Lightroom to add drama to the images. The highlights were turned down to preserve the shape and form of the lightning.

In my camera bag

Nikon z7 Nikon z6 Nikon z5 Nikon z30 70-200mm lens 35mm f1.8 59mm f1.4

Feedback

Don’t do this without considering the risks. This type of photography can be extremely dangerous. I never get out of my vehicle in these situations.
