Just before sunset....August 2021Lighting
A tricky lighting situation with the relatively bright setting solar disk and the darkening sky and cloudsEquipment
I used my Canon EOS 6D with Canon's 100-400 zoom telephoto lens mounted on a tripodInspiration
There had been awesome sunsets this time of year with the sun becoming a large orange ball shortly before disappearing below the horizon. This night there were wispy clouds in front of the sun to add extra interest. My title "Creation" seemed to suggest itself..Editing
I did cropping to get a pleasing composition, some level changes to emphasize the clouds, and a little change to the saturation levels for a more dramatic solar disk.In my camera bag
I generally take macro shots. I use Canon's 65mm specialty lens and Canon's Twin Tube flash unit for that sort of thing. I carry Canon's 100-400 mm zoom for wildlife and for the kind of shot that was featured. I also use Canon's 17-40 mm zoom, Canon's 24-105 mm zoom and Canon's 100mm image stabilized macro lens along with a tripod and a frequently used monopod.Feedback
I took numerous shots using multiple settings on the camera to get one that pleased me. Patience while waiting for the right lighting and solar position was also a virtue.
