Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken on the Scottish Events Campus in Glasgow, I had been experimenting with slow shutter speeds with people passing in front of the entrance of the SSE Hydro, I turned round to see the Armadillo, this was a different angle from what I had noticed before and so I proceeded to take a number of shots, this was one of them.

Time

It was mid afternoon and fairly bright so that I was able to take it with a low iso and fast shutter speed without a tripod.

Lighting

I liked the contrasting tone produced in the photograph and brought this out in post, by converting to black and white.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D3100 with the kit lens (18 – 55mm) the focal length was 18mm.

Inspiration

I had been shooting in the area and was surprised to see how good the Armadillo looked from this angle.

Editing

I converted it to b&w and adjusted the contrast slightly.

In my camera bag

I had a Nikon d3100 with the vr 18 – 55mm also a tripod and a remote shutter release, I also had a 35mm lens and a 55-300mm lens.

Feedback

Although I had something particular in mind that day ( slow shutter speeds of people interacting with the architecture) I was drawn to this – So don’t get too stuck to one idea!
