Behind The Lens
Location
I attended a 2 day workshop where the workshop presenter had this model dressed in a Victorian style dress.Time
It was in the morning and the presenter had the model ‘pose’ in this position in an old church aiming inside towards the window that was also the source of light...with the arrow lit with fire..Lighting
As mentioned she was sitting looking towards the window with natural light coming in from the window... the light from the lit arrow was also shining on her face...Equipment
I used a Canon 5D with a 24-70 mm lens and no tripod no flash, just using the natural light and the light of the lit arrow..Inspiration
The pose of the model gave me the concept to tell the story that she is in the middle of a battle aiming at a burning building....Editing
I combined the photo of the model with the background photos of buildings that I ‘built’ using different photos of buildings I took in other places as when on tour or so and adding fire to create mood and tell the story...In my camera bag
I usually go to a shoot like this with my Canon 5 D and a 50 mm and 24-70 mm lens...I also often use my 70-200 mm lens, no tripod most of the time as it limits my mobility to shoot at a very low angle...should I choose to, and I like doing that to get a different perspective...iFeedback
In this case it was the concept of the workshop presenter to dress the model and pose her with the bow and light the arrow, but ai ver often do the same, have the concept, plan the shoot and take the photo and photos of the background that I would need to ‘build’ the background...
