I love to hike with my grandson. This waterfall was well worth the effort. Although the walk to the falls is fairly short, the drive to get there was an adventure in itself. Glen Alpine falls is near Lake Tahoe, California off of Fallen Leaf Lake road.

Location
The drive up through Lake Tahoe is beautiful. We took Fallen Leaf Lake road and wound our way through the area on a one lane road. Once the road turned to dirt, we found parking and this beautiful waterfall.Time
Since we didn't leave on our adventure on time, I was concerned to photograph in the midday sun. The trip actually took longer than I had planned so we got to the waterfall in late afternoon.Lighting
We arrived in late afternoon and the sun was just hitting the tops of the trees on its way down. It was definitely far from twilight so the effect of the sun through the trees was magnificent.Equipment
I used me Canon EOS Rebel t3i along with my new Canon 8-15mm lens. Situated on a trip on near the edge of the rocks, I used my remote trigger to catch the shot.Inspiration
My grandson and I had been spending a lot of time together and waterfalls in the area became our obsession.Editing
When i put the photographs through Lightroom, I was definitely pleased as they required very little post processing. I increased the saturation to just push the colors to their fullest, especially in the shadows. I then used a luminosity mask to bring back the colors in the sky.In my camera bag
I carry a backpack which holds all my lenses and a monopod. Additionally I brought along my tripod that day.Feedback
The only thing I would do differently would be to get there just a bit earlier to get set up.
