Behind The Lens

Location

My front yard in Dickinson, North Dakota

Time

It was around sunset on the Fourth of July!

Lighting

Natural twilight lighting with gave it the perfect tones I’m in love with this photo!

Equipment

I shot this with my Sony A7rii with my 50/1.8 lens. My favorite combination.

Inspiration

I love these sort of POV shots and wanted something that captured the feeling of my Fourth of July.

Editing

I didn’t have to do much to this photo, just a few adjustments to things like contrast and shadows.

In my camera bag

One of my biggest struggles is trying not to pack everything I own! But usually what I narrow it down to is my Sony A7rii, three lenses my 50mm, 85mm, and 35mm. I also pack a tripod, and just in case I find the opportunity to experiment, my lensball and a prism.

Feedback

I think the only advice I have is just go for it. Try anything and everything that comes to mind, because something you doubted and didn’t put much stock in, might just end of being one of your favorite shots. Don’t be afraid to experiment!
