Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from my back porch in Hawaii

Time

It was around mid-afternoon, I had just gotten home after getting a hair cut and was definitely feeling like showing it off so I figured, "why not a selfie?"

Lighting

It was a cloudy day in Waimea per usual so even in the mid afternoon it was easy to get a good natural light shot without any harsh shadows.

Equipment

Shot this with my phone! Samsung Galaxy s9 (the back camera of course)

Inspiration

I was really just in a great mood from getting a haircut I was so happy with so I wanted to take a picture to reflect that feeling

Editing

I did very minimal post-processing with this photo. Really just a little lightening and that's it.

In my camera bag

I typically carry my galaxy s9, sony a7, minolta x700, and fujifilm instax wide. I love shooting with 50mm and 35mm lenses because I feel like they capture the image mostly as I remember seeing it so I usually only carry those since I don't want to be weighed down by too much gear.

Feedback

When taking selfies with the back camera of your phone, sometimes it is easier to record a small video and pick a frame that looks like what you were going for rather than individual shots since you can't physically see the composition while you are taking the picture.
