Location

This was taken in Cuyahoga Valley National Park after a quick downpour this summer.

There was a small shaft of light cutting through the trees giving the eagle just enough light to capture the detail in his feathers

Equipment

Nikon D500, Nikkor 200-500, hand held. No flash

Inspiration

His majestic attitude sitting on the log, as if he had no predators around him worthy of his attention

Editing

Brightened up the exposure, lifted the shadows and brought the colors up a bit

Feedback

Learn the behaviors of the wildlife you are taking pictures of. Some birds of prey are not comfortable around humans. It’s better to take a shot zoomed in from a distance away than scaring them off and not getting a shot at all. I like to camp out where I know they hunt and wait for them to come to me. They land a distance they are comfortable with and I don’t move any closer and scare them off
