Fall ride through the Shannahan sector. The Neilson is one of the most amazing trails I've ever experienced. The mix of punchy climbs, steep descents, techy rock and wooden features running next to the river is an experience like no other.

Fall ride through the Shannahan sector, Neilson trail. We took a group shot of our crew, captured some video of the boys riding next to the river, but I couldn't pack it up without capturing the bird's eye view of the fall leaves, trail and the river from above.Time
This photo was taken early in the afternoon, mid-way through our ride that day.Lighting
Early afternoon, so using an ND filter helped reduce blow outs.Equipment
This photo was shot on a Mavic Air when we took a short break next to the river before starting the descent running parallel to the river. The light was fairly harsh but I keep an ND2 on the Mavic camera to reduce any blowouts.Inspiration
I love shooting photos from above, it's such a unique perspective. Anytime I can fit my drone in my pack for a ride, it's great to capture a different view of the experience. The people you're with, the bikes, the trail and the surroundings.Editing
The Mavic shoots great photos, but I always tend to add some more depth, balance and punch the colours out to really bring the photos to life, to feel like they did that day, at that time.In my camera bag
When mountain biking, I have to choose between carrying a GoPro & Drone, or GoPro and my Fuji XT-2. On this day I only carried the Mavic Air and the remote to increase the range of flight.Feedback
Keep your pack tight so no gear moves around when you're traversing uneven ground and technical trails. These areas are hard to reach, so having the ability to pack a very compact camera or drone, is pretty amazing!
