Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Tanzania in the Serengeti

Time

I took this photo at around 7:00 in the morning when the sun had not yet completely risen.

Lighting

The lighting is very soft and beautiful as I shot it at such an early time in the morning.

Equipment

I just used my canon eos rebel and a 70 to 300 mm lens.

Inspiration

I had seen these cheetahs a day before and thought that to myself I need to capture a photo of them in a better light and in a better location. Therefore, that morning we set off on a game drive a little earlier than usual to see if I could get a photo of these beautiful creatures before the sun had completely risen. To my luck, they were sitting on a termite mound. It was just the perfect set up.

Editing

I used lightroom to edit this wonderful image. I increased the contrast, blacks, vibrance, clarity and texture. I decreased the exposure, whites, shadows and highlights.

In my camera bag

In my bag, I usually have a tripod, especially if I am shooting at night. I also always use my canon mark 2 6d canon camera and I have several lenses including 50mm prime lens, 135 prime lens, 70-300 lens, 125-500 sigma lens and my wide-angle 16-35mm lens.

If you are in the wildlife just go out whenever you can for as long as possible and observe these beautiful creatures.
