Location
In the location heather & ling near my home in Surrey, UK. We are blessed with rugged commonland, so when the bright purple arrives it’s just stunning.Time
Late afternoon, our second walk of the day after the heats died off a bit.Lighting
I like to play with lighting when photographing dogs. Especially black dogs I like to light from behind. I use only natural light.Equipment
Canon 1D x mark 2. The perfect action camera! 70-200mm lens which is so diverse I love it.Inspiration
I never usually take my camera with me when I go for walks with my own dogs because this is my down time from my work. I forced myself to take my camera this day, and told myself I will just play and it paid off!Editing
Lightroom! I love Lightroom. In my camera bag
Oooh so many things! 50mm, 135mm, 85mm, 70-200mm, 35mm, canon 1DX 2 & canon 5d m 2. GoPro, first aid kit, extra dog lead, treats, toys and usually a snack!Feedback
The most important thing is plan your shot. You need to look at the composition and how it’s going to effect the subject. With action it’s hard to predict exactly where the subject will go and so you may need to do it a few times, focus on the subjects eyes, make sure your camera is set to track and then re focus before it gets you. Don’t leave it too late or you’ll miss the moment but don’t rush it - you can always do it again.
