This was taken at the Gigrin Red Kite Feeding Station in Wales, where between 300 and 500 wild birds flock daily for a meal and perform incredible aerobatic stunts. Birds are tagged by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds for research purposes. This bird, Number 51 (thought to be a female) looks different from the other red kites because it has leucistic plumage, an abnormality of feather pigmentation. Sadly, the other kites will not mate with her.
