Location
I took this photo in Namibia's Sossusvlei Desert in 2017. I also love this photo because it captures the feel of the moment when we stood in front of this 300 meter sand dune. I am an amateur photographer who fell in love with photography when my mother gave me my first Nikon camera in 1985 - naturally analogue.Time
On this day the wind ripped around my face making it difficult to see anything. Fine red sand was everywhere that morning. But then at around 11 a.m. it became a little less windy, making photo taking possible. You can see the sandy wind gusts on the dune.Lighting
The light was so bright which was difficult for taking photos, but this one came out perfect, in my mind.Equipment
I am the kind of photographer who seldom if ever uses a tripod or flash. I have my camera strapped around my shoulders so that I can shoot as soon as I see something interesting. I am not the meticulous planner who watches the time or schlepps around equipment. It is just me and my camera looking for those incredible scenesInspiration
The dune inspired me. It was an amazing sight to behold. Namibia is an amazing place.Editing
I am the type of photographer who does little if any kind of post-processing. This photo was not processed. In my camera bag

My advice is to keep your eyes open. Look at the environment around you.
