Location
"Black Sands" was photographed on the island of Vieques. This beach is know by the locals and visitors would never know it was there unless shown. Such as what happened when I went to visit. A beautiful small hike under a canopy of vine and the most beautiful green trees.Time
From what my memory serves, it was taken mid day. In the month of January!Lighting
The locals call it "Black Sand Beach" due to the amazing science that happens as the waves crash against the land. The sand turns black as the roaring waves sail back out to freedom. As the sand dries it returns to its original sun kissed tan.Equipment
No flash was used, I do believe the camera was my Nixon D3500. Most like photographed on P mode, with a low iso.Inspiration
I decided for my 25th birthday I was going to go somewhere beautiful, warm and simple. When my cousin who is like a sister invited me to visit her in the Caribbean I knew that this was the place to go. She was working as a pilot. During her stay there she made so many wonderful local friends that showed us both the beauty that this 12 mile long Island held. From swimming deep with fish, to the non traditional width of the roads, to wild horses surrounding your beach area. Black Sand Beach reminded me that with everything ugly in the world that crash upon us. It does return to a state of beauty with a little time.Editing
Because this was a digital image the processing was very simple. I placed the image into my editing software, bring the true colors of what the eye captured. The colors were so vibrant, relaxing and rejuvenating that I wanted them to come out in the final image. In my camera bag
Typically I have a Nixon D90, sometimes a D7100 a few lenses of different length. My cell phone and always take a cell image to compare the screen too!Feedback
Remember time is your friend don't rush an image. Know that your not a failure in your attempts it takes many frames to create the perfect vision of our life. Your images should be no different. Do what works for you, I was told I should have done this m, should have done that. However their suggested should haves may not have captured what i saw was the shot! The reality art is in the eye of the be holder, your artist vision of what your looking for in your images require nothing more that what your eye sees as "the perfect shot". How you got there is what creates the story and how it displayed within your photos.
