Location
I shot this photo along the Lewis River in Clark County, Washington. It was a beautiful fall day and a great year for color.Time
I remember it was afternoon, I want to say around 2pm. The clouds were thick, giving the day even and soft lighting, really letting the colors standout.Lighting
The thick cloud cover gave really nice, even lighting, allowing all the color to stand out on its own, from the leaves to the shifting color of the water.Equipment
I used my Nikon D500 with a wide angle Tokina lens, Benro tripod, and a remote shutter release to achieve the long exposure and control shake.Inspiration
Every fall in Washington brings good color and this year was no exception. I wanted to capture and share it from an angle that not everyone sees, as it was slightly off the beaten path and easy to overlook.Editing
I always do a little post-processing, correctly any color casts and bringing the sharpness right where it should be.In my camera bag
My bag normally carries my D500, a 40mm, 11-16mm, 85mm, and 70-200mm lens, various filters, a multi-use remote, and occasionally a GoPro.Feedback
Take your time to pick the frame and balance the exposure between lights and darks for best color.
