The photo was taken in my home in Riga which I also use as my studio. That is the reason why my home walls and furniture are neutral color.Time
I mainly shoot with natural light. We have long winters here, so natural light is often a problem especially if it is overcast day. But if it is not too grey outside there are usually some hours during the day when there is enough light. This November day had enough light that fitted my cat's schedule of being active.Lighting
The window light was soft and beautiful. There was no direct sunlight but at the same time it also wasn't very dull and grey. A perfect winter day to use natural light which is why I grabbed my camera.Equipment
This was shot with Nikon D7100 and Sigma 70-200mm lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I love flowers at home. This time I found some quite dry ones that looked more like twigs with some small flowers and I thought that they would look quite nice when they really dry out. But I noticed that my cat is quite curious about these flowers. This photo is one of the moments before he jumped to the window sill to eat them.Editing
On cat photos I do some basic adjustments in post processing like exposure, a bit of clarity, some whites, blacks. In this one I removed also a twig that in my opinion did not fit into the photo. In my camera bag
Now I have upgraded my camera to full frame Nikon D750, which is almost always with me. For photos outside I usually have my Sigma Art 50mm with me but if I travel my Nikkor 35mm 1.8 always travels along mainly because it is very light lens and produces good quality photos. My Sigma 70-200mm lens is used either for photos like this indoors where I want to focus only on main subject or for family photo shoots outside which gives incredible results. I rarely use tripods and ND filters mainly due to the fact that I Iike when my bag is light.Feedback
