Location
This photo was taken at Moeraki Boulders in New Zealand.Time
We had driven through the night trying to get here before sunrise and we were not disappointed. This shot was taken only a few minutes before the sun peaked over the horizon.Lighting
The beautiful pre sunrise light left us in awe, as we watched this stunning landscape become golden around us.Equipment
I took this shot using a Canon 60D with a tamron 17-50 2.8 lens and a cheap ND 1000 filter to extend my shutter time and smooth out the surfbreaking in the distance.Inspiration
I am fairly new to Photography only picked up my first Dslr about 6 months ago. This location is very well known and I felt the need to get my own shot from here.Editing
The post processing on this image was done purely in light room and didn't move past Raw editing, I originally edited this image in the carpark right on the beach as I couldn't wait to see the result, I felt the extra magenta I added really helped the image to come alive. In my camera bag
I normally keep the 60D plus a 17-50 2.8, a70-300 4-5.6 and a 50mm 1.8. I also carry a few filters such as a CPL and a couple of ND filters plus my tripod and some snacks.Feedback
Get to the location early and scout around for your compostion, you don't want to miss the best light especially when it is fleeting as it at sunrise and sunset
