Location
This photo was taken at my home. My wife plays piano and this antique piano from WW2 was passed over to my wife. It's one of a few Jewish made pianos that survived.Time
This was taken during the day making use of natural light coming in from the sky light.Lighting
The lighting is all natural light coming in from a nearby window not directly on the piano and a skylight that was directly above the piano. It provide enough light to capture all the detail yet adding some softness to it.Equipment
At that stage I would have captured it with my Canon D60 DSLR if I'm not mistaken. It would have been with the default lense as I was still learning about Manual Mode.Inspiration
The original intended was to capture a family portrait of my wife and 2 kids playing on the piano. But the kids didn't really want to work with me. Ended up taken one of all their hands playing on the piano and this one.Editing
Basically just made it a black and white photo and increased the shadow as well as the black features due the the difficulty of seeing the music notes on the sheet. In my camera bag
Canon DSLR, Canon PowerShot, long lens, 260mm, default 80mm and a fixed 22mm and a flash. However I got in the habit of taking only my camera and fixing one lens to it. Extra memory card and battery. Helps to force you to think a bit more out of the box if you don't have to much options.Feedback
Gain inspiration from other photographers. Study is focused on of the subject, angel and lighting. Lots and lost of practice. Don't be afraid to try new things and everyone hits a inspirational black hole at some point.
