Location
This picture was taken outside while it was snowing a bit. I was waiting for my friend to finish her gym session and there was a park nearby so I took a small walk and started to look around.Time
I took it around 2pm perhaps. It was very cold and especially since I had no gloves with me. I got a coffee to kind of warm up my hands which helped a little bit.Lighting
I didn't really do anything with the lighting, there wasn't much sun outside either but there was enough lighting to get a good definition on the watch features. I did brighten it up a little bit on my editor but just very slightly.Equipment
I wasn't prepared for this photoshoot, I just happened to have my pocket watch on me, so I just took the picture with my Samsung I believe. I used my lipbalm to hold it up from the back since it kept falling over and I couldn't hold it with my hand because then it would appear in the shot. I also took use of a tree that was cut down and left on the grass to set up the pocket watch.Inspiration
It was kind of a spur of the moment picture, I was just walking around taking pictures of the trees and the snow and then I felt my pocket watch in my pocket and thought : " Hey I could use this for a picture". So I walked around, setting up the watch anywhere I could to see the result and this is really the only one that I liked. Maybe I had some inspiration from all of the "Steampunk" images that I have seen on the internet since I love that style.Editing
I simply brightened the image a little bit with my phone's editing application and I sharpened the image slightly. I know I also enhanced the colors a little bit just to make them pop a bit more. I never do too much post-production because I feel like it can kind of "ruin" the authenticity of my picture, so I like to keep it simple. In my camera bag
Before I used to only have my phone, but now that I got a new camera I carry my Canon T7 with 2 lenses, a small tripod, about 2 SD cards, some lense filters and a little usb key where you can directly insert the SD card to transfer your pictures to the usb key.Feedback
Maybe to just try a picture with anything you have in hand, not everything has to be planned out. Most of my most liked pictures happened by "accident" or a non planned picture. Let randomness take over sometimes and you might be surprised how good the picture can be.
