Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken somewhere in Taguig City, Manila, Philippines. I am a self-thought photographer who started photography last 2016.

Time

One of my favorite image. As a newbie in photography, I feel lucky I got the right elements inside the frame. I was walking along Taguig City when I chanced to see this Graffiti Art. I saw the guy walking on the sidewalk and timed him to fill into the frame and took the shot. It was around 9-10 in the morning on December 9, 2016 when the photo was taken.

Lighting

I think the lighting was pretty good at that time when I took the photo. I just wanted to get the inclined shadow to add interest to the photo and timed the person walking to get near the boy on the Graffiti

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon 750D with 18-55mm f/5.6 kit lens. No other equipment used.

Inspiration

I was walking along Taguig City to see beautiful places as I just visited the place. After sometime I saw this beautiful Grafitti that I thought the young boy was real. I had it in my mind that I should get a picture of it. The real person walking was just pure luck that he was passing by.

Editing

I shot in raw. I just crop a small portion above the picture and do a little noise reduction using LightRoom

In my camera bag

At the time of the shoot I only have my kit lens. But now I always bring with me my 85mm f1.8 canon lens, my kit lens and Tamron 70-300mm. I only have 1 camera body which is a 750D canon.

Feedback

I realize as I grow as a photographer that photography is not just taking pictures but putting life or story into it. As a photographer, you have to see into the real world things that we don't normally see. As an example, this photo of mine is just a regular thing that happened everyday to passers-by in that area. They don't realize that there is something about that graffiti and with the right element and right timing, it will give a good story.
