Behind The Lens

Location

This photo taken in my tiny home studio in Moscow.

Time

Model came tonight, so we started about 11 PM

Lighting

I made light setup using Godox Wistro AD360 and beauty dish, four silver reflectors, stands and one boom. Triggered via Phottix Strato II.

Equipment

This shot made using Canon EOS 450D with Canon EF-S 55-250 lens, Godox Wistro AD360 flash and beauty dish, four silver reflectors, Phottix Strato II transmitter and receiver.

Inspiration

I had gorgeos model with wonderful wardrobe and makeup, so I had chance to make bold and beautiful shot. My model is photigrapher also and know how to look and pose perfect.

Editing

I had just minimal touches on eyes, skin and hairs for final look. A few layers in Photoshop to add shine of eyes, contrast on hairs and little skin color correction.

In my camera bag

I always try to travel light and always fail in that :) For portraiture on lication I usually pack Canon EOS 450D with Sigma 17-50, Canon EF-S 55-250 and Canon EF 50 f/1.8. Plus one or two flashes (Godox Ving V860II), Godox X1 transmitter, collapsable beauty dish, reflector and some grip stuff.

Feedback

Don't focus on equipment, don't think expensive lighting equipment, camera or lens will make great result for you. Try to invest your time, money and energy to make model comfortable, to great makeup and outfit, to interesting lighting (you can make yourself a lot of modifiers, for ibstance) and post-processing. Push yourself and set high level for your shots. Your inexpensive equipment, your amateur status, your home studio are not excuses to make bad photos. You need to set high level and try to reach it. And with every new photoshoot try to make level higher.
