Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on one of our back road excursions. I am an amateur photographer who just started packing a camera with me while out on our excursions as I was always saying to myself, that would have been a beautiful picture; so, I started taking pictures.

Time

This photo was taken in the middle of the afternoon, sometime mid-May; we were just driving along a forest service road and we saw the bear cubs scoot across the road and dart up the steep bank. When we got to where we saw them go up we slowed down to have a look at where they had gone. They were still there sitting on the bank with their mama bear. Made for a memorable day/trip for sure. The trio was approximately 30' straight up the bank looking down at us on the driver side of the vehicle; I was on the passenger side and opened my door to look up at the three. We had an open bag of BBQ chips sitting between us and they got a whiff of that and were very interested in the smell. (we did not feed the bears) I grabbed my camera while looing up at the mama and her cubs and started snapping away, very aware that the mama bear could have been on top of us in a split second if she felt threatened. Got a few of shots before they got up and wandered off into the bushes.

Lighting

These were taken in natural light, mid afternoon.

Equipment

These pics were taken from, my camera, at that time, a FUJIFILM FinePix, S1800, ƒ/5.6, 1/220, 90mm, ISO200.

Inspiration

Just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Editing

no post-processing

In my camera bag

Now, I just rely on my cell phone to capture what, where, when I can; however, with this COVID19 thing not going anywhere these days.

Feedback

for me, I make sure my camera/phone is ready for that next amazing shot at all times.
