Location
The photo was taken close to downtown Toronto.Time
It had rained and it was close to sub zero temps but my friend and I were determined to get a good shot. When I saw the train car go by, I immediately knew what the photo needed to be and so I set up and waited for another streetcar. It took at least an hour to get this shot but it was well worth it as it is one of my favorites!Lighting
I knew that the light trails must contrast against the dark night ambiance but I wasn't sure how long the expose should be in order to achieve this. I was still relatively new to photography and it took a while to figure out the correct settings. I believe all in all, it took me over an hour to setup, compose and snap the shot.Equipment
This was shot on my first DSLR, a Nikon D3200, using a SIGMA 35mm f/1.4 ART with a remote trigger.Inspiration
I was relatively new to the photography scene but I had just received the 35mm f/1.4 SIGMA ART and was hooked at how crystal clear the photos came out. I had played with light painting previous to this but I wanted to create a photo that I could be proud of. This was the result!Editing
I usually always do a little light post processing to make the photo look and feel the way I had felt when I captured it. I try to steer away from any photoshop manipulations so just some light alightroom retouching to make it stand out.In my camera bag
I generally always keep my Nikon D7500, SIGMA 35mm, Nikkor 70-300, spare batteries and SD cards, filters, and lightweight tripod especially if i know there may be trekking/hiking involved.Feedback
Patience is your best friend, practice on manual mode, and practice light painting at home before going out so that you have a good grasp or understanding of how eqch setting affects the outcome. HAVE FUN doing it!!! :)
