Location
The photo was taken in Venice , Italy .Time
It was at the end of a sunny day , in the summer time .Lighting
I thought the two tones lighting at the end of the day brilliantly expressed the drama of the place, the sadness and the hope alike.Equipment
That was shot with a Sony A57 camera with a 18-125 lens - Sony too. Most of my pictures are taken handheld .So , no other equipment involved .Inspiration
I was inspired by the story of the place - famous people like Casanova and Galileo Galilei were locked up in this prison. Built in 1600, made of white limestone, the Bridge of Sights connects the Venice’s ancient prison to the interrogation rooms in the Doge's Palace. It is said that it was the last view of Venice that convicts saw before their imprisonment, so the prisoners would sigh at their final view of beautiful Venice through the window before being taken down to their cells, as none really hoped to see the sun again….it was all about a last breath and a view of daylight…Editing
I used the Adobe Lightroom . I used the high clarity preset and few brush strokes to lighter or darken some areas of the photo. In my camera bag
I like to travel light . Usually i take with me only the Sony A57 camera and the 18-125 lens . This combination is enough in most of the situations.Feedback
To give momentum it is best to take this picture at the end of the day, before dusk, so the colors in the background would bring more contrast.
