In a hotel room with model in 2007. The room was swathed with highlights and shadows. I wanted to use this light to tell the story of a beautiful, sexy woman languishing in the shadows, reveling in the power and beauty of her sexuality; while waiting for her lover to come to her.

I was staying there for the weekend with the model. We were up late the night before but when I woke up and opened the window curtains there was all this beautiful streaming light, with interesting shadows created by the window frame and various objects in the room. I begged her to do a quick impromptu shoot, telling her I would not feature her face so she didn't have to do make up and hair. A lesson learn - sometimes you see the light, you grab the camera and shoot without thinking too much about it.Equipment
This was a while ago. I think it was a Canon 5d Mark I hand held, no flash.Inspiration
Just the light that was streaming into the room and the interesting shadows it was creating. Knew I had to get some shots in that light!Editing
Black and White conversion; probably some minor retouching, dodging and burning to emphasis the highlights and shadows more.In my camera bag
Back then I was shooting primarily natural light and I didn't have a lot of gear. Camera, 24/70 f/2.8 workhorse lense. Didn't need anything more for this shot.Feedback
If you could replicate something like this in the studio with flash, you'd be a master. Actually that thought makes me want to give that a shot! Otherwise... keep an eye out for light that inspires you and have a model with you when you see it!
