Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a trail in a small town called Elliot Lake.

Time

I took this photo around 4:00pm

Lighting

The lighting is what caught my eye the most in this composition. The way the sunlight leaked through the trees and leaves created the vibe I was looking for.

Equipment

This image was shot with a Canon 5D Mark ii with a 50mm lens at F1.8. I used a tripod to assist in stabilization, and making sure my focus was spot on.

Inspiration

I have always been a huge fan of photographer Samuel Elkins. His work inspired me to pursure this style, and this was the outcome.

Editing

Post processing is a very large aspect of my image. It allows me to adequately construct the perfect vibe I want my image to get. My workflow generally consists of a green tinted filter, grain, grey/white haze and a tad bit of sharpening. I often also add a bit of contrast depending on the intensity I want my image to reflect.

In my camera bag

I always head out to shoots with my 5D Mark ii, 70-200, 50, and my tripod. Of course, can't forget additional memory cards, batteries, and cleaning accessories.

Feedback

If this style catches your eye, I can definitely tell you that it mainly comes from the post processing. Add a bit of green, some grain, some contrast, lower the whites, lower the darks, add a touch of haze and you're good to go. I find with these styles of photography, the environment greatly impacts your images vibes, try shooting very scenic areas that catch the eye, rather than simple locations.
