Location
I took this photo in my garden.Time
This photo was taken at 9.16am on 16th May, 2016.Lighting
The sunlight was there, but weak, and was coming from directly in front of the bird.Equipment
I took this on my Canon EOS 60D, f/7.1, 1/800 sec, ISO 640, focal length 400mmInspiration
Having watched the family of blackbirds fledge from their nest in my garage, I was hoping to catch an image or two of them. This little one chose to investigate my old cartwheel bench and obligingly peered out through the armrest :-)Editing
Processed from RAW on Photoshop CS6, added a little shading around the edges of the image to focus the light on the bird.In my camera bag
Normally my Canon EOS 60D, Canon EF 100-400mm and Canon 18-55mm lenses, along with tripod. I mainly use the big lens.Feedback
Be patient! When photographing birds and animals you usually have no control over what they are going to do, so it is worthwhile spending time and taking several shots as they move around. Keep the focus on the bird/animal, ready to catch that best shot when everything comes together.
