Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo right after my mother-in-law got her first puppy. He was full of excitement and wonder as he roamed around the back yard.

Time

We had stopped by to see the new addition to the family. He was sitting so well...all over the yard..so I went picture crazy. This was one of my favorite pictures because of how great he sat, as well as the look on his face. It was around the lunch our, so the lighting was perfect. The curiosity with puppies is fun to photograph.

Lighting

It was sunny.

Equipment

Nikon D3300 was used with my 70-300 lens. No extra attachments or flashes.

Inspiration

I love taking pictures in general. I love animals and I love the expressions that they have. Puppies can be so wild and full of energy. Being able to capture a picture of them in their calm state is a fun one, since it is so rare.

Editing

All I did was brighten the color a bit more.

In my camera bag

I don't have a very big camera bag, so I tend to bring my Nikon D3300 and my 70-300 lens. I have other lenses, but not always enough room to carry them.

Feedback

I would say that for any picture that you are trying to take, just keep clicking. Try different shots with the same subject to see which you like better. Try focusing on the object and then try focusing on the background. You may only get 1 or 2 great shots out of 20, but it gives you ideas on what can be done with one object. You might end up with a different expression one way vs. the other.
