Tripulation admires the peachy sun as it timidly turns the sky into a masterpiece. Bahia de Banderas is ready for a new day that will probably taste like fresh avocado, ceviche, salt, breeze and maybe thunderstorms.

This photo was taken from my friend´s boat while we went for a late afternoon stroll not too far from the shoreline of Puerto Vallarta, in the stunning Bahía de Banderas (México).Time
It was around 8, the sunset time of Puerto Vallarta in summer. This city´s sunsets are known to be gorgeous, but during this period of the year they are more impressive due to the thunderstorms that occur regularly. The clouds play with the last rays of susnhine creating a wide variety of compositions. People gather in boats, beaches and terraces to enjoy this moment together.Lighting
I used a low exposition to make sure I could get the colors of the sky as I saw them. I wanted to combine the silhouette of the boat and the neon color of the sun to give more power to the image.Equipment
I used my Nikon 3100 and a 200 mm objective to take this photo.Inspiration
I lived in a house with a roof terrace and was mezmerized by sunsets every night. I wanted to capture them from different spots, but in this particular case, everything occured by chance. We were not even planning to be on a boat at that time of the day but luckily we ran late. Once there,we waited for the sun to disappear behind the horizon, as people at the boat of the image did. I took pictures of the boat at different positions from the sun, but this one was my favorite.Editing
I enhanced the contrast to give more emphasis to the silhouette of the boat. I wanted the colors in the sky to have a more dramatic effect. In my camera bag
As an amateur photograph, I do not have too much gear with me. I try to always carry with me my Nikon 3100 camera, my 200 mm and 35-85 mm objectives.Feedback
Chase the sunsets, they are always a gift for the eyes, and usually for the lens too. Be there for the whole process of the sun hiding behind the horizon. At that time, there are abrupt light variations in a short period of time which multiply the chances of getting an interesting image. I suppose that a tripod is always helpful. A low exposure is better to capture the colors of the sky, I totally avoid flashlight. Visit different places, explore unexpected spots.
