Location
This photo was taken in a small town called Gamla Uppsala, Sweden. In Swedish language, Gamla Uppsala means Old Uppsala. This is about 30 minutes by public transport from the main town of Uppsala. During summer time, it is one of the favourite picnic spots with the locals.Time
It is one of my favourite photos from my short stay in Sweden. It was that time of the year when the famous Nordic winter was slowly giving away to warmer sun. The Sun was near the horizon but the light was diffused due to a haze. The ice that you see here is about knee deep and slushy making it more difficult to stand and steady the camera for a shot.Lighting
The sun was at the horizon and the light was diffused. It was just the perfect light you need when there was lot of ice around. A strong light would have created strong reflection and the softness in the photo would not have been there anymore.Equipment
I used Nikon D80. The camera was set in aperture mode and the exposure was corrected to compensate for the snowy condition. I did not use any tripod.Inspiration
The light. The softness of the whole scene. The sense of solitude and calm in the whole scene. The fence taking the eyes further.Editing
The photo has no post processing except the highlight control, and removal of the noise. In my camera bag
I normally carry my camera, my kit lens, a 50mm lens, tripod, polarizer and uv filters. Recently. I have got interested in long exposure photography so I additionally carry filter holder, few 100mm filters.Feedback
Check for the elements in the scene and the light. I have seen that keeping photos simple works better than trying to achieve something complex.
