Behind The Lens
Location
I had dropped my son and his wife off for an early start fishing trip at Bembridge on the Isle of Wight. I was driving back home over the downs and noticed the mist still hanging about and thought it would make a good photo.Time
It was autumn (fall) and around 8.00 am.Lighting
The lighting was difficult because I was shooting into the sun and because of the reflection of the sun off the sea and the sun being still low in the sky made the shadows quite dark. I played around with ASA setting and speed and took several photos.Equipment
Hand held Canon 7D with the Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens with a polar filter.Inspiration
Looking at the view, I just thought it would make a good photo.Editing
I used photoshop elements 10 to process the RAW image. I brought the dark areas up a bit and darkened down the light areas, particualrly the sea. Enhanced the clarity a little and ended up with more or less what I could see with the naked eye that morning. In my camera bag
I usualy take all my lenses if I'm not sure what pictures I'm going to be taking. Besides the lens mentioned above, the Canoon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM, I have the Canon EF 100-400mm 1:4.5-5.6 L IS USM lens, a Sigma 10-20mm 1:3.5 DC HSM (great for cofined spaces) and a Sigma 50mm 1:1.4 DG HSM lens which I use mostly for portraits. I also have a few Coking filters but rarely use them.Feedback
For photos into the light and especially with glare, like off the sea, a Polarizer is a must. Taking a photo in RAW is best as you can process it far better than a Jpeg. If you're not sure, take a few photos with different settings and you're bound to get one right!
