Wow. I have a photo from that exact angle. I thought it was mine. Proves all photographers see things alike. Great photo

Location
This image was made at Arches National Park near Moab, Utah, during a vacation with the family.Time
When traveling with the family it's hard to be in the right place at the right time of day, like sunrise or sunset. It was most likely late afternoon. Luckily we had some great clouds to add soft texture against the hardness of the rocks.Lighting
um nopeEquipment
Shot with either the Nikon D80 or the Nikon D3 that my husband and I were passing back and forth between us..Inspiration
We don't have these kinds of rocks in Nebraska so I love to climb around and photograph them on vacation. It drives the kids crazy to have two parents with cameras but luckily they were happy to be climbing around. And oblivious to the fact I got their photos in the opening of the arch.Editing
A lot of what was shot that day was exposure bracketed for HDR but this was a straight shot processed in Lightroom a bit for contrast and saturation. In my camera bag
Most often I like to travel without a bag! Toss a 70-200 lens on my D3 and off I go. I'm used to liking the zoom and the details, maybe from my days of second shooting weddings. More and more lately I've been going with a 24-70 and forcing myself to think a little wider. I'm bad about not using a tripod, especially for bracketing shots, but I like to travel light.Feedback
Advice for others? Just go do it! Get outta town. go somewhere different. And take more memory cards that you think you need!
