Location
Nymans National Trust, West Sussex England. This area is in the woodlands, quiet and secluded. I often walk in this area as many visitors to the location miss this due to it not being in the main part of the park.Time
Taken in the late summer afternoon. As per usual I was he only person walking in the area,so took my time to pick the best location to take the shot. I've taken many shots of the same area but must say this was one of my best.Lighting
Ideal time of day to take the shot with the sun behind me reflecting across the lake.Equipment
Sony SLT A58 aperture f6.3 ISO 100 no tripod as the camera has a steady shot function, lens 18-55. I've only had this camera for 18 mths and still not used all the functions. Must admit now I've purchased a wide angle lens I'm really impressed with the quality.Inspiration
Been to the location loads of times and taken many photos but all have been dull or over exposed. It's one of my favourite places for chilling out and very relaxing.Editing
I always take RAW shots and process on Photoshop elements 12. This was probably one of the first shots I took in RAW. A friendly professional cameraman who has worked for the BBC gave me several hours instructions a couple of years ago. He told me then to take RAW shoots, but I failed to take his advice and it was sometime before I took the challenge. Must say its the best decision I ever made. Love my photography. Normally I post my pictures on Facebook and gets loads of encouraging comments from friends. In my camera bag
I'm only a casual photographer its part of my walking hiking gear. Normally I carry the camera and my new wide angle lens on a shoulder strap. The strap is one of the best pieces of equipment I've brought as I'm able to walk and hold the camera in one hand. Normally I walk 10-15 miles on my walks across the South Downs in Southern England. I also visit many National Trust premises in southern England and am always on the look out for new walks to capture some exciting landscapes.Feedback
Always plan where you are going, checking resources like the Internet. I do loads of walking so again be prepared for all types of weather and ensure you have maps and compass. Always tell someone where you are going in case of an emergency. Explore your local area it normally contains some excellent locations for taking photos.
