Your photo isn't quite straight. The horizon line from the dresser isn't matching the top/bottom of the photo--and it detracts quite a bit from the overall effect.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a the model's (Katja Gee) bedroom. This dresser caught our attention and ended up posing her atop the dresser and against the stark wall. The intent of this image was to juxtapose the impact of a soft and sensuous nude form against the starkness of the simple backdrop consisting of dresser and bare wall.

Time

This interior shot was taken in the early afternoon.

Lighting

The lighting was provided by a large octa-softbox placed far enough away from the model to provide a dramatic lighting that illuminated her soft skin tones against the texture of the wooded dresser and plastered wall.

Equipment

A Canon 5D Mk-III was used with a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. The lighting was provided by a Paul C. Buff Einstein studio strobe with a large octabox light modifier.

Inspiration

While wrapping up a photoshoot of this amazing art model, the simple backdrop of a bedroom dresser against an open white wall seem to suddenly call out for us to tackle a series of poses highlighting the dramatic impact of the nude form perched upon the inanimate structure as the dresser against the open space of the bare white wall.

Editing

The image was batched into Lightroom where global adjustments were made. From Lightroom, the image progressed into Photoshop for final work that included converting from color to a toned B&W format using Alien Skin filters.

In my camera bag

My go-to camera is a Canon 5D Mk III with a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens.

Feedback

My advice to any photographer is to always look for the shot that was not planned or ever anticipated...look for things that exist beyond our "normal" line of sight and interpretation. Sometimes those things are hidden in plain sight...things like dressers that await a beautiful art models like Katja to strike a pose upon.
