Location
The photo was taken in New Kingston, Jamaica while I was waiting on my wife who was working late. I took out my camera and tripod and proceeded to walk the streets of New Kingston in hopes of getting some shots.Time
It was around 6.30pm and I took a number of photos of the location and this photo was the best of themLighting
The area was fairly lit by the street lights. Knowing that the sun had already set, I knew I had to use my tripod to get a proper exposure especially as I wanted to show streaks of light coming from the headlamps and the taillights of the cars passing each other and the symmetry in the palm trees.Equipment
The shot was taken with my Pentax k5 with 18-55mm kit lens and a tripod.Inspiration
I wanted to show the contrast between The headlamp and the taillight of the cars passing each other and the symmetry in the palm treesEditing
I normally use Lightroom to process my photos and this photo was no different. Normally I lower the highlights and lift the shadows to the maximum and adjust the whites and blacks slightly to my taste . In addition I would increase vibrancy, saturation and clarityIn my camera bag
Normally I would carry a Pentax k5 with 18-55 kit lens and a canon 40d with 10-18 lens and a neewer tt560 speed light and a tripod.Feedback
This photo can be taken where there is vehicular traffic before sunrise or late evening . A tripod is necessary to get slow exposure. Look for opportunities to show the contrast between the headlights and taillights. In addition, I would encourage all to do what you love and you will never work a day in your life. Sometimes you don’t get that opportunity to do what you love. You do the next best thing by shooting(photographing) during your free time. And be patient.
