Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in woodland near to my home as part of my second year university project. I

Time

It was taken around midday meaning it was difficult to get the lighting right. After a lot of effort I finally got the shot!

Lighting

I lit the model from behind and use spot flashes to light the face. The rest was edited in Photoshop. (Carrying that lighting equipment up that hill was a nightmare!)

Equipment

Nikon d3x tripod Flash Photoshop

Inspiration

I was creating a set of fairytale photos as part of my second year degree project.

Editing

I added in the fairy lights and used different actions to create a moodier effect.

In my camera bag

I normally carry a Nikon d90 or d3x if available!

Feedback

Pick a good location! The location was key for creating the fairytale effect. Make sure you're prepped with a good team and in my case wrap up warm! I needed plenty of spare batteries for the spot flashes and used plenty of smoke bombs for effect. Be creative and try to do as much in camera as possible! The rest can be done in Photoshop!
