I might want to confort this little guy, but I also must secretly laugh at his teeth at the same time...

Location
It was at home in my bedroom, Sam had his cot in there at the time and was just waking up from his afternoon nap.Time
It was taken around 3.30pm, Sam had not long woken up and was ready for some food - probably why we have that expression on his face!Lighting
A Speedlite flash was used which I bounced off the ceilingEquipment
This was shot on a Canon 40D with a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lensInspiration
I think it was just the way he looked when he woke up, his hair all over the place. My camera was right next to me at the time, so I snapped away. I was very pleased with some of the expressions he was making and this one was my favourite.Editing
I had recently started playing with Snapseed at the time, particularly the 'drama' effect (still do to this day) and I really liked the effect it had on this shot.In my camera bag
I still have my Canon 40D along with a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS and a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS. I also carry a Speedlite flash - keep nice and simple.Feedback
Just have your camera ready at all times as you never know when the next great shot is going to happen.
