This foto was taken in my home studio. I am a self taught photographer and this was one of my first attempts of trying newborn photography.Time
This photoshoot was totally unplanned, it was about 10 o clock on a weeksday, when my friend sms'd me asking me to do a quick photoshoot for her before she went home. So I quickly started setting up for a newborn shoot in about 15 minutes we where ready to shoot. This gorgeous baby boy was just 4 days old.Lighting
I used natural window light , and changed the colour and the exposure in Lightroom.Equipment
I used the Nikon D800 and I think my trusty Nikkor 50mm f1.4Inspiration
He was so tiny, and was asleep most of the time but was holding on to his mom's hand, you could at only 4days old see the complete trust , and this strong bond between mother and baby.Editing
Yes I did use Lightroom 5 , and changed the exposure and the white balance. In my camera bag
I recently changed to Canon, so I have the Canon 5DS R camera body and my absolute favourite the Canon 50mm f1.4 and the Canon 24-105mm. I am not really into having 10 different lenses in my bag, will definitely buy the Canon 85mm f1.2 next.Feedback
Portraits are definitely my favourite type of photography, this was actually not what I usually would photograph because I tend to take more close ups of peoples faces and focus more on the eyes, but the best photos are the ones that is not staged or planned, with an emotional feel to it. Try different angles and depth of field. I find a shallow DOF in a foto focusing on a specific part like the hands in this photo has more impact.
