Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken at Harkness State Park near New London, CT.Time
It was early evening, just before sunset. My friends and I needed a study break, hopped in the car and went exploring in the park.Lighting
Since it was twilight I took as many photos as possible. What I love about Harkness state park is the angle of the sun at sunset. It perfectly sets up the beach with an eerie feel.Equipment
I used a Sony DSC HX1, no tripod or anything elseInspiration
I wanted to capture the movement of the water against the open sky. Even in the winter, there are usually sailboats and other freighters on Long Island Sound. At this time, I was taking a lot of action photos of sports and dance. I was out to my comfort zone by taking this this photo.Editing
A little, I just bumped up the contrast in iPhoto. In my camera bag
Currently I have a Canon T2i, the basic lens set that came with it, 50mm canon lens, a gopro hero 3 black edition, and a monpod tripod.Feedback
Go out and explore, you never know what you may find. I always go out just before sunset so the lighting is great. Bring a tripod and go into your experience with an open mind.
