This photo was taken at my friends home in Prineville, Oregon. Jasmine, the subject of the photo was sitting on the concrete trying to stay cool during warm weather. She always had the sweetest human-like expressions, which is what I was attempting to capture in this image.Time
Taken in the afternoon on a hot sunny day.Lighting
I really love black and white photos, and lighting is always a key element. Post processing required a little extra work because the photo was taken under a covered patio, with light coming only from the left side of the frame.Equipment
As with most of my images, this one was taken with my iPhone. Post processing was done with native iPhone editing capabilities.Inspiration
I was inspired by this lovely puppy and the sweet facial expressions she uses to communicate her thoughts and feelings.Editing
Yes. The photo was taken in color, then converted to black and white. I then applied a vignette to the edges of the image, and made small adjustments to the black point, slightly increased definition and reduced the noise slightly. In my camera bag
I carry a few lens adapters designed for the iPhone, a mini flex tripod, a screen and lens cloth, a selfie stick, and portable battery to recharge with.Feedback
Nine times out of 10, it seems the shots I put the least amount of effort and planning into, are the images that end up receiving awards and peer recognition. My advice, take as many photos as you can, sort them out later. You never know which ones will turn out the best, but at least you’ll have plenty to choose from.
