Location
This was the new years eve display in Hong Kong in 2014.Time
I had my small Canon S100 with me & during the midnight display got this zoomed in shot and was bracing the camera on a pillar.Lighting
I set it to a long exposure to get the trails - 2s in this case.Equipment
Canon S100 compact with the infrastructure used to brace it in place of a tripodInspiration
Each time I am there [we have family in HK] we go out to look at the fireworks after dinner & a few drinks in the bar, so I am really just snapping away in an unplanned location & manner hoping to accidentally get a nice one like this!Editing
A bit of light editing to reduce the flare in the smoke. In my camera bag
I have a Canon 80D usually with an EFS 15-85 lens possibly with a star or Cir PL filter, plus a compact, That Canon since died due to corrosion, so now its a Sony DSC-RX100, plus my Galaxy smartphone takes super pics at times!Feedback
If you don't try you wont get a nice shot, at least now the days of film are gone and one can experiment tones hearts content deleting the failures. In this case I had a terrible view so these were taken inn the gap between the many tall building's which 'forced' me to zoom in rather than the more traditional wide view of a fireworks display. Serendipity?
