I was at a flower shop in Gardena, California and, being the Queen of Rose Lovers, I couldn’t pass up the chance to shoot this beautiful display.Time
It was just around lunch time when I stopped by the flower shop. Shop, eat, repeat, that’s my motto.Lighting
The lighting was interesting. There was lightning for each section of flowers that were set in particular groupings. The roses went from sunny, delicate tea roses to rich, hardy aromatic roses. The lighting was soft and muted to pin light dramatic. I have a passion for the dramatic, hence the name Passion. Some of the tiny lights were not working so I had some off shadows to correct but not too stressful.Equipment
I just used my trusty IPhone 6 Plus and available lighting.Inspiration
No one can separate me from red roses. They call to me and I respond. All shades of red roses, particularly the deepest reds. That’s the way to my heart.Editing
I did add a little burn and dodge from my computer due to some of the light not fully functioning, but really not much. They posed perfectly just for me.In my camera bag
I carry my IPhone, a little inexpensive phone stand and my trusty Hello Kitty flashlight that I recently found out works great as diffused light. WHO KNEW!Feedback
Just be aware of the opportunity to capture beauty. Rain or shine or dark of night, it’s all around waiting to be discovered. Use your tools, then get more tools. Got a mirror and a flashlight, make magic!
