FollowA daring shot, I just bent my body out of the jeep. Amazing fact an elephant's trunk contains 40 thousand muscles.

I took me awhile to figure this one out.... but I really love it because it´s such an unusual angle to see an elephant. Great shot, great work, wonderful album 😀😀😀 Look forward to see more.

Location
Africa Krugar National Park in 2017Time
Taken on our afternoon ride. We were in a open clearing next to very small forest patch.Lighting
Since I spotted the elephant eating asked the driver to move closely very slow, so it would not startle it. We stopped at around 30 feet from the animal and no one made a sound. Just used the natural light.Equipment
Nikon D7200 70-300mm lens, and put my camera on auto and my camera was on a monopod. I love using a monopod, rather than a tripod.Inspiration
I am an avid animal photographer and found the animal in an unusual position. What you don't see in the photo is the elephant was standing on his two hind legs and his front legs were about one foot above the ground. He kept raising himself to reach the branches with his trunk. I bent out of the jeep and fired away. Must have taken 20 shots.Editing
No, I usually take my photos in raw, sometimes use a slight cropping. But now started using Luminar AI. I fiddle a bit with features like the shot of " The Player" and " Burchelles Zebra " and " Soft Purple " flower. But now with the new powerful editing apps I have recently discovered this is opening a new chapter. In my camera bag
One D7200, one D7500 , 50mm, 85mm,70-300mm 105mm, 135mm old Tamron 200mm lens. Some filters. polarizing, etc. and an extra flash. My tripod has a monopod incorporated which I use a lot. Have three photo bags on depending where I go, if I am on foot or in a vehicle. My favorite is my old Patterson photgraphy bag in military canvas with shoulder straps fronm the 80's. Still have my old battle tank lens from my Nikon FE from the 70s. And still once in a while adventure out with film and my Nikon FE which still works fine. And I always carry my small Sony camera in the car just in case.Feedback
Dare to go out of the box, I experiment a lot with my shots then keep the ones I prefer. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. I have had " MISTAKE " shots turn out exceptional. Dare to brave. With experimentation comes experience. Good luck and enjoy.
