This image was taken on the sweeping fells of the South Tyne Valley in Northumberland near to my home.Time
It was taken around 8.30 am on a cold January morning.Lighting
It was a clear crisp day, perfect for this shot. The weather conditions can be unpredictable up here being around 1000 ft above sea level.Equipment
On this occasion I only had my iPhone 8 as I was on my morning dog walk. I do find the image quality of the iPhone 8 extremely good.Inspiration
There was something about this shot that had an abstract quality to it, the dog put it into context for me. I love the textures and the fluidity of the image with the sweeping landscape. The sky looks like it was made from an artist's palette. I take a lot of dogs in these sorts of settings as it is an environment that is natural to display their instinctive behaviour. On this occasion Teddy just sat and stayed, the composition happened very naturally.Editing
I used an app on my phone called Snapseed. On this occasion I tuned the image slightly, adjusting the shadow and highlights and warmed it up a little. In my camera bag
As I said earlier this was taken on my iPhone 8 as that’s all I came out with on my dog walk. I do have a Nikon D7200, 18-105mm lens and a Manfrotto tripod.Feedback
I love a dramatic sky and a landscape that lends itself to the instinctive behaviour of the breed of dog I’m capturing e.g Labrador Retriever being a working gun dog is very natural on the setting of a grouse moor.
