Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Sebago Lake in Maine over this past summer. I’m a self taught photographer so every shot I take I learn something new l. I pour my heart & soul into my art.

Time

This shot was taken around 3 pm, it was a beautiful sunny day in New England.

Lighting

I wanted to bring the angle lower to show a view we don’t normally see as humans. The lighting on the sandals from the sun gave the shot an exquisite pop. As well as the lighting upon the dock.

Equipment

I used a Canon Rebel T6, 18-75mm stm zoom lens. (Shot @ 18mm, f 3.5, iso 100) No other equipment involved.

Inspiration

I was inspired by the sandals just sitting there so perfectly on the dock facing the water. The low angle to bring our view to something we don’t normally see. And the dock just adding that “summer” feel to the image and the water so perfectly balancing out the composition. It’s funny my girlfriend was with me when I was shooting this image & she kept asking me “what’re you doing?!” And I kept saying “Oh you’ll see!” Once she saw the raw photo she was undoubtedly impressed seeing her sandals in a whole new light.

Editing

In this case I used light room to help bring some of the color out in the photo to make them pop. Then I used an air brush tool to help even the color upon the sandals, as well as the dock. No other “processing” was done on this image.

In my camera bag

The first thing I always carry with me is my 85mm usm standard telephoto lens (Gold ring) along with my rebel T6, I have my 18-75mm atm zoom lens, as well as a 75-300mm zoom lens. I have a small tripod, a mono pod, pistol grip tripod, macro lens attachments, lens filters, battery charger, and a wide angle lens attachment as well.

Feedback

Learning to see things from different angles, bringing something to life that would normally be considered dull is the aim of my art (in some cases). That old Cliché “see things threw a different lens” applies when trying to achieve a shot like this!
